Джон Гриндер на форуме отзывался о работе Экмана положительно (если желателен перевод, то я его на днях сделаю):

Paul Ekman writes about certain physiologies being universally connected to certain states as a universal phenomena irrespective of culture or geography - certain simulated smiles will not trigger the bio chemistry of ''happiness'' , but that one needs to simulate ( volunantarily) a smile in a very specific way to trigger the state.
Whats your take on this John - lets say we have two people who both feel anxious before speaking in public. Both peole are told to move as if ( as in Tony Robbins teaching )they are ''confident'' or whatever , one person moves into the selected state , and the other fails to do so , despite his or hers best efforts.
Whats the difference that makes the difference.?

I have a lot of respect for Ekman's work - note that he through careful practice has developed the ability to isolate and influence the musculature of the face to the point of being able to vluntarily reproduce particular expressions that under normal circumstances are involuntary. Like eye movements discovered and coded in NLP, Ekman has succeeded in discovering some of the universal in non-verbal behavior. His work is superb and as I mentioned, he can do what he is describing - an inspiring and congruent example of participatory research - very close to the requirement in NLP modeling that the modeler be competent to do the patterning of the genuis prior to any attempt to ''understand'' or code explicitly the components of the behaviors involved. I recommend Ekman's work strongly as a tour de force in calibration.
The example you offer about confidence in public steaking is interesting look, consider thinking about it this way. If you have excellent calibration skills and superb flexibility physiologically (to be able - as Ekman does - to reproduce what you can calibrate, then you could reproduce (imitation of physiology) what the other person's behavior and supporting physiological/neurological is indicating (the genius in a modeling project, fo example) and thereby trigger the corresponding events in your own neurology/physiology.
What I am suggesting is that if you are good enough at imitation (to get started - developing your own style or version of the patterning is a separate challenge) you cannot NOT enter the state. Yes, I think your comment (taking what I just mentioned into consideration) is accurate.
