By "becoming familiar", I mean to suggest that the reader should write out as many examples of each pattern as he or she can, then create various inductions out of these examples. Spend a day or two on each pattern. Also, practice delivering them aloud - to a friend, a voice recorder, or even your dog. Practicing hypnotic inductions in front of a mirror can be extremely state-altering.
