Derren Brown
Although Derren Brown is most famous for his fascinating television shows broadcast in the UK, he has a solid
reputation for his unequaled development of NLP and hypnosis. In fact, Derren’s effortless demonstration of NLP
to manipulate the thoughts of his guest stars was what got me interested in NLP in the first place! Derren Brown
actually has a flexible view of NLP which is similar to my own. Rather than adhering to rigid methods set out by
NLP’s original creators, Derren uses wordplay that works well and has adapted a lot of NLP techniques to make
them work a bit more seamlessly. It is for this reason that Derren’s methods are my chosen schema for the
techniques on this website. They work the best. It’s as simple as that. How inspirational is this Guru?
John La Valle
John La Valle One of the World’s most respected corporate consultants and the co-author of ‘Persuasion
Engineering’ with Richard Bandler.”When I first became interested in NLP, it was quite by accident. I came
across a one day basic introduction program and was wowed in the first hour. As soon as I could, I attended
my first Practitioner program. I quickly figured how best to adapt the technology of NLP into business
applications. Since then, I have personally trained with most of the ‘major players’ in the field in the 1980’s.
I met Richard Bandler early in my training and his attitude and skill appealed to me. He could get results!
Being a bottom line business person, I liked that! No fluff, no theories, just get down to it and change!
I liked it. What I found most interesting was the fact that I could get results in the business arena.
I am still in contact with a lot of my corporate clients across the globe, many of whom have seen their
business multiply year after year. They still bring me in for ‘tune-ups’ from time to time. They hire better
people, promote the right ones, train differently and even manage differently. Ultimately they lower their
costs and increase profits. That’s the bottom line! People have asked me what the turning point was for me
in my own training. Well the first thing was the moment I realized that it’s not just enough to want, but
then to do. Stepping across that line and just going for it! The second was realizing how powerful language
is and how easily we can change behaviour using just language. How inspirational is this Guru?

techniques are used that access the deeper structure of the brain for fast, permanent change. RESOLVE
demonstrates how to:– identify which techniques work with which clients – create a relationship that empowers
rather than merely conveys understanding – give clients the more basic changes in life-approach that make
therapeutic change last – access people’s own inner skills, strategies and strengths so that change is faster
and makes sense to them – ensure that change is occurring in the deeper brain structures where older patterns
of behavior were first laid down – recognize which stage in the therapeutic process you are at, and respond
most effectively for that stage. How inspirational is this Guru?

http://metapractice.livejournal.com/533131.html?thread=13940363#t13940363

Optimal asymmetry and other motion parameters that characterise high-quality female dance
Abstract

Dance is a universal human behaviour that is observed particularly in courtship contexts, and that provides information that could be useful to potential partners. Here, we use a data-driven approach to pinpoint the movements that discriminate female dance quality. Using 3D motion-capture we recorded women whilst they danced to a basic rhythm. Video clips of 39 resultant avatars were rated for dance quality, and those ratings were compared to quantitative measurements of the movement patterns using multi-level models. Three types of movement contributed independently to high-quality female dance: greater hip swing, more asymmetric movements of the thighs, and intermediate levels of asymmetric movements of the arms. Hip swing is a trait that identifies female movement, and the ability to move limbs asymmetrically (i.e. independently of the other) may attest to well-developed motor control, so long as this limb independence does not verge into uncontrolled pathological movement. We also found that the same level of dance quality could be predicted by different combinations of dance features. Our work opens avenues to exploring the functional significance, informational content, and temporal sequencing of the different types of movement in dance.
