Download: brainwave_rel4.zip released 2004-09-03. Got rid of the old averaging filter and put in a pink noise filter, which sounds nicer. Also it doesn't crash anymore.
Brainwave is a simple brainwave synchroniser for Windows. I wrote for my own amusement but since then it has become obvious that other people may benefit from it. So here it is. Download and enjoy.
A brainwave synchroniser is a relaxation device. It generates stereo sound in which one channel is delayed compared to the other, by an oscillating amount. The sound source thus "revolves" around the listener's head. Since there is no volume modulation, the effect is fairly subtle.
After listening to this sound through stereo headphones for 5-10 minutes, in an appropriately relaxed environment, and given the consent of the listener, the listener's brain will become synchronised with the oscillations. By controlling the frequency of oscillation, the listener's level of awareness can be controlled.
